Bharamappa - near Jain basadi.I.e near my house Konnur Karnataka

I was hardly 7-8 years old..Group of sparrows use to fly, eat, keep their nests all over our colonies and worship places.I still can hear the beautiful song of the sparrows. How i tried to catch those little birds and was actually able to catch the babies and rearing them, all i remember.Mean time my parents use to tell if you toutch them, their parents will kill those babies and all.Gradually our area started growing with all cement houses and technology started coming in like mobiles and vehicles, which probably lead the sparrows no to decrease.I do not know the exact reason for this but today i see very few Sparrows near my house and our area infact @ our Town, unlike before. They reduced to the maximum extent.pleae do something before they EXTINCT.After 2005 they hardly spotted in our Town.

M. Narayan Murthy - Tarbahar Deepupara Tank area Bilaspur Chhattisgarh

I live in this area. The roads are concreted. In front of my house we able to raise some hibiscus family trees for flowers. they are around 6-7 ft high. gives some shade and place to sit for the birds. Like the same some plants grown in other houses also. With fondness my wife and daughter and me feed these birds by putting some rice. it is very lovely to see the sparrows in the morning with chirps and eating the rice we put on the boundary wall to avoid any disturbance from dogs and children. Every day we enjoy watching the sparrows coming to our place. If any day they were not seen or heard my daughter class 6 student now inquires why and where about the sparrows with her friends in the neighborhood and with us. We always look and wish to protect them by arranging some feed on regular basis so that the sparrows will grow with sufficient food and rest under the tree.

Nandini - Dhangu Road Pathankot Punjab

i have spent many hours of my childhood observing sparrows in my garden at home.then over the passing years i couldn't see more of them in around the year 2005 and henceforth. the last decade has seen a rapid increase in the use of mobile phones. somehow i always related mobile phones as one of the reason for the extinguishing sparrows. its been years now i haven't seen a sparrow at home whereas, i have so many trees and plants at my place. i do see other birds but i miss sparrows a lot.

Charan Reddy - Kodur Village and Surroundings Kodur Village Nellore Andhra Pradesh

Currently I work in Hyderabad (since 6 years). I am from a village called Kodur (18kms from Nellore city, AP). During my school days (in early 90's), I used to see lot of sparrows and I also used to build small homes (with cardboards by hanging them inside my house) for the sparrows to breed. No doubt they are completely extinct now-a-days in our village. I can clearly say that since 2004 I have been observing that I couldn't see even 1 bird during my regular visits to my village. If you visit my village, you guys will definitely love the sounds of various birds (from 5.30pm to 7pm), every eve. But I was terribly disappointed that I couldn't see even 1 sparrow at my village. I love birds and animals and I am also a nature photographer apart from being a professional in a MNC. But I was/am very surprised/happy to see lots of sparrows (around 50-100 in number) here in Hyderabad (Miyapur). I also thought of capturing them and leave them in our village, which I later realized as incorrect deed. Even here I keep feeding them with rice and always keep 1 bowl of water for them. Atleast 5 or 6 birds keep making regular visits to my house (early morning btw 6.30am-8am). And finally I hope you people will remove the word "EXTINCT" of these brids from our village. Good to see you guys. All the best.
