It is my observation that mostly female sparrows are seen. Also, the females are smaller and frailer in size compared to what we used to see when we were kids (about 35 + years ago).
I generally see them during early morning hours, mostly on the ground level hopping and chirping.

They live in my home.We fed them water & food .They built nests in my home roof and plants.We respect them and they to cheer when they see us mostly in morning hours.The cuples love each other very much. an instant once a male sparrow jamed in a net and died then female sparrow tried to save her but it also died shouting to save her.We did not recognise her we felt very sorry for it.

It was in my garden, i had few trees like Lemon, Curry leaves and Hibiscus. Every morning i used to see sparrows chirping, bathing in small puddles of water on the road and drying themselves in the sun. There were many in my Lemon tree and they would all start chirping if they see a cat or a big bird. Most of the times we would go and get rid of the cat. We would throw some rice on the ground for them. Dont see them anymore.
