As i lived in this area from 1985 till 1997, i saw many house birds daily. I use to give them grains of bajra which they had daily and also had a dish of water for them to drink. They use to come every day early morning at about 5 am and stayed there for till about 5.00 pm - 5.30 pm when they use to go back to their nests.

Sparrow at my childhood times used to play a very friendly role in my life. I used to find lots of sparrows and used to build small cardboard box houses for them. It was really pleasing to hear their chirping sound early in the morning. Those small birds, sitting together in groups were truly adorable to watch. We used to protect baby sparrows which were just the size of a school eraser from predators like crows. It was indeed a lovely experience at those times to play with my friends amidst those tiny cute little birds. But now the evil side of technology has lead to their complete destruction. About three years before, the business minded telephone operators erected a cell phone signal tower about 300 meters from my locality. The day those killer towers started functioning, lead to complete wipe out of these innocent creatures from my locality. Now, I sit in my courtyard thing about those wonderful times which much more lively and beautiful.

As a child, I would encounter numerous sparrows in the building area every morning. They would be quite fearless and one could walk past them at a distance of about 1-2 feet.
I first noticed a decline during the early 90s, when the numbers dwindled, and now I never see sparrows in groups at all. Just s stray bird here and there. They are also easily frightened when alone and one cannot approach them anymore.
