House Sparrows are welcome in our neighbourhood and many families keep eatables and water outside their kitchen window or on the apartment boundary walls that sparrows, mynas, and pigeons relish. Thankfully, because of many trees around and a planned garden that the apartment complex has, sparrows do find many branches to perch on although I have never noticed a specific nest. I frequently have seen 4-6 sparrows playing all day just outside my house, sitting on a guava tree. My 5 year old has made a nest for them and hopes that it will be occupied soon.

We used to have the house sparrows building nests inside our house. And when they come chirping into the house we had to switch off the fans inside so that they can fly unhindered. We had many occasions when the eggs laid in the nests used to hatch and the young ones used to fall to the floor. we took great pity on the ones that have fallen and have put them back into the nests many times, but never knew whether they survived thereafter.
The growing urbanisation with every house being converted into an apartment led to the loss of foliage in the neighbourhood and we no longer see even one sparrow these days. The space for the nests were also sealed for strengtheneing the building structures. That also was probably a reason why the sparrows never came back...

My observation is very simple. Due to high uses of mobile phones, house sparrows are rare birds now a days in our daily life.
