Daily, My mother feeds food on the balcony. two to three sparrow come and eats.
During, Diwali Season for around 5 to 6 days, I cannot able see any sparrows. because of noise pollution ,they use to hide in nest itself. This should be controlled.

I am a village guy migrated to suburbs of Kolkata formerly Calcutta. I grew with greens and birds and all other blessings of mother nature. It was a pain few years back when I noticed sparrows are missing from my neighborhood. Atleast 5 years till 2010 I have not noticed a single one while there were hundreds in folks flying over and tweeting through out the day. It is a pleasure too when I have noticed they are coming back one by one. Still I have not found a nest yet but currently they are seen in numbers. Definitely they are setting up nest somewhere near. I am really happy having them in the hood again.

I used to see sparrows in my childhood upto age of 12 years. They used to be my favorite friends in early morning and early evenings. I love their delicate bodies making me remember a tender neonate. I very much wish they could build their nests and grow in number.

Saddening that I cant see any Sparrows. Its a typical age-old railway quarters. Crows, Cuckoo, Parrots, Kites, Kingfisher can be seen here but not Sparrows. Even there are birds which make a timely chaos daily midnight around 2AM.
