Sudhir Tandon - North Avenue, Kalyaninagar Kalyani Nagar Pune Maharashtra

I have put up a Sparrow feeder in my rear terrace and I fill it with Bajra seeds. Also there is bowl of water always available. The terrace is full of house plants. Daily around 4- 6 sparrows come for feeding. This also attracts pigeons but I have seen the pigeons wait patiently when the sparrows are feeding

Brig Kanwar Yudhvir Singh (Retd) - Arcadia, an independent 2- floor house, with a kitchen garden in rural setting Panthaghati Shimla Himachal Pradesh

I built the house,Arcadia, in 2001(plot size about 700 sq yards with a garden all around)over a spur, looking into fields in the valley in the south and a forest in the north. Ever since I & my wife have been living here. Daily, almost throughout the day, morning & evening in particular, we see many small birds in good number; they visit flowers, bushes and trees in our garden. Many small birds, particularly house sparrows, have made many a nest in our garden. House sparrows have multiplied from a few to almost in hundreds in our surroundings over the last decade or so and spread into the agricultural fields in the vicinity. We do feed the birds with bread and grains and also provide water in small containers.

Kaushiki Sen - Greenwood Park Extension Action Area I, New Town Kolkata West Bengal

Dearth of House Sparrow in my complex forced me to read articles and I read about Mohammed Dilawar and his website http://www.natureforever.org. I even bought a feeder and nest from the site. The feeder is frequented by sparrows but unfortunately the nest is still empty. I hope the same will be cosy house for sparrow friends.

SARATHI VP - Harini Arcade Advocate Sarathi's house Harini Arcade Coimbatore Tamil Nadu

T Sasisekaran - Rettappalivalasu temple Erode Tamil Nadu

This locality, which even at this pont in time, continues to be a village, but getting encroached by urban expansion, has a Hindu temple and by the side of the temple, there is a tree which is not commonly seen in other parts. Villagers told me that this tree is called urumi tree in Tamil and the present reporter is trying to get the tree identified by a botonist and this will be reported soon. In this tree about 30 sparrows always live eating the grains strewn there by devoteed. Sparrows are not seen anywhere except on this tree in this area. Surprising. I am trying to find the the real reason/ for this happy situation. More news will follow
