One pair roosts in my ancestral home. Often, one partner gets killed because of the fan in the hall. Everytime one dies, the survivor brings in another partner. This has been going on for last few years now. My mother feels so sad for them, as they keep dying in front of their eyes.
Twenty years back, when I stayed here, there were hundreds of them. But now I did not really look for them hard.

I stayed in Guwahati in April 2010 for few days. I saw the House Sparrrows ans the Eurasian Tree Sparrows foraging together on the streets in the busy areas, including the market, near restaurants etc. They were everywhere.

House Sparrows used to visit BNHS Hornbill House few months back. But when Mr. Umapratap Singh went on leave for two weeks (who used to feed them with grains) the sparrow stopped coming to Hornbill House. But I have counted same numbers in the gally opposite our office. So, they must have shifted there. I see them everyday, including one nest I saw.
