Arpita Shah - Shanti Park Mira Bhayandar Maharashtra

Inspired by Nature Forever Society, I have bought a bird feeder for sparrows and from thereafter I am noticing that in my windowpane where I have put that feeder 3-4 sparrows are coming for food sometimes together and sometimes one at a time. They come several times a day. There is also Indian Mynah, crows and pigeons in this region. I have noticed some sparrow nest on the space in our building. They are basically located between the storeys. We have shops in ground floor and flats from 1st floor onwards. On the roadside, they made their nests between the space over the shop hoarding. Also we have trees in our areas and I have noticed them having nests there too.

There is a Gulmohur tree alnog with few ashoka trees in the compound of Manek Kunj Building next to very old chawl system building.

Many Houses at the chawl has tied plates on the grills of the windows for the sparrows and other birds. This i believe has given rise to a healthy population of sparrows.

Actually nest is not constructed ( in Lime Tree )by couple of paired spotted Munia, on particular time, house sparrows are came and occupy that nest, on that day itself i can saw min 6 to 15 sparrows in that tree. Lime tree is not planted one, one time we drank a lemon juice, that time just we through that seed, it becomes a tree. Associated bird is crow. rice, ground nuts, larvas ( lime butterfly ), insect are the common feed.
