The place Rudrapatna is in Ramanatpura hobli,Arkalgud taluk, Hassan district, Karnataka State. this place is my native. we have a house in the village and its a TOTTI MANE( i.e there's a big opening in the roof which provides lots of light and air to the house).I have observed a lot of sparrows and few live inside our house and have nested inside decorative lamps and bamboo trees. I observe 50 to 60 birds in that bamboo tree after the paddy is harvested. during that time 5 to 7 birds nest inside the lamps and few may be in the tree. During that time we can hear the chirping's of sparrow chicks.

I am living in the above address and i was observing sparrow taking rest in the plant when its too hot in afternoon.But now there is evidence of single sparrow probably in 2009-2010 i again come across few sparrows. Previously this area was village and there is a lake and garden (looks like forest)very near to my house ,don't know whether it has anything to deal wit sparrow presence.

In our old home a nest was constructed by a pair of sparrows. we used to observe it daily. even though we were using BSNL Land line, they did not bother about the ringing sound. but when we started using Mobile Phones gradually they disappeared, probably because of its sound, waves,radiation. now I am living at Bangalore since last 10 years, I am unable to find a single sparrow in the city. so sad...

Anchor Restaurant, Near Dholera Dholera Gujarat
My uncle & aunty stopped by this restaurant on their way back to Ahmedabad from Bhavnagar and saw Sparrows nesting in this Restaurant's toilets. The restaurant owner has put up several nest boxes and all of them are occupied by Sparrows here. He also has hung clothes like a hammock in the toilets and even they are occupied by Sparrows.

we have been putting up corrugated and plywood nestboxes in this aria for the last two years. and today we see spparrows nesting all the nest boxes, earlier they used to make nest in vantilators and drainage pipe and now after putting up these boxes we have 100 percent success, people follow the ege old tradition of kathiyavad to put grain and water everyday first up in the morning, in one house here we have put 10 nestboxes and all of them occupied and still spparrows r fighting for a place to nest.this year on world house spparroday we honored all the people who let us six up these nestboxes in their premises and lot of media coverage was also given to this event. this event was organized in godhaniya college, so that around 100 college student who remained present learn how to conserve sprrows. we also distributed waterpot with ropes and nestboxes to them.
