I used to put bread crumbs, grain and small pieces of chappati for the birds and noticed that during that time period sparrows used to come in the balcony and eat them. There was also this tall creeper of Madhu Malti, which was quite dense and often we used to see sparrows flying and hiding in it. They had their nests in it. But people got it cut, despite my raising objections. I also observed till a few years back two places where they used to build nests, one amongst the T.V cable wires below in the building and one in the crevice of the stairway, but they haven't come and made their nests for a long time there now.

I am workig at Bangalore international airport in electrical maintenance department we having one generator room its fully closed building inside ambient temperature is more than 45 degree even though more than 30 numbers of sparrows are living here. Sparrows made nest inside the light fittings Some time fittings getting over heat , that time small birds are trying to come out from the nest & falling down from 20 ft height & died. Nearly 40'/. birds died by this reason. So we don't have idea avoiding this. how can shift the birds to safe area ? please suggest me....... Adarsh B Srinivas.

while going for attending BCSG Annual general meeting at jambughoda,we took break at reliance patrol pump and foodcourt near golden chokdi, vadodara, Gujarat. There I saw few sparrows.

I have lived at O.N.G.C. colony of Makarpura road from 1992 till 2008. Previously there were a fair number of sparrows, which could be seen at the balconies, in the parks, in the golf ground. But slowly the number had reduced considerably. I used to wonder, where have they gone. I heard it from people, that it is the usage of mobile phones in large numbers, which is causing harm to the tender sparrows. I feel sad to hear that. If something can be done to save the species, it must be done.
