recently, a month ago, i saw 2 sparrows in my balcony in the early morning hours. i was quite elated to see them, because its after a long time i saw them(probably in 1995/96 i saw sparrows in my grandpa's village, with lot of nests and their chirping sounds).
i was closely observing them from a distance, and i hope they were probably searching diligently for some nuts or so. i enjoyed their presence, but this joy didn't last long. after 5 min. or so were flew.
however, 2 weeks ago or so, when i was going to a temple in the early morning at 6' o clock, on the way near to my place i found some sparrows chirping. this time there were some 3/4 i hope, and do think there was a nest.
however, a sad thing to be noted is that: yesterday i noticed some sort of demolition of a building near that place, and the construction activities started. so, i was bit worried about the fate of those little lovely creatures.

We miss the chirping of the Sparrows in early morning. Now a days the early morning chirping is by more aggressive birds. I wish I could hear the sparrow chirp in the morning.

There are so many house sparrows in my locality. On world sparrow day i have fixed a nest on one side of my house and it is very strange to observe that after about36 to 40 hrs sparrow occupies the nest. I can spare photographs of sparrow building the nest in the nest box, if it is of any use to BNHS. Till that day I am observing the sparrows daily.

There is a store a few metres from my house. In the grainhouse. I saw sparrows and their nests in shutterholes. But now I can see only a few sparrows. Such a change has taken place in just one year.

I remember my student life during the period of 1975-82, when a group of house sparrows use to take away the biscuits from my study table. All the children were trained by my Grand Father to keep a earthen bowl full of Millet and a separate bowl of water for birds. I still remember our roof top to be fully covered with House Sparrows.
Those days, the birds allowed us to go much near to them but now a days the House sparrows are very few in number and they are very much fearful of any human movements.
