Arun M K Bharos - Chitrakote vill and waterfall area Chitrakote vill and waterfall area Jagdalpur Chhattisgarh

Chitrakote vill and waterfall area was visited on 30 Jan 2011.

Water fall is very large about one Km from the residential area. Here few isolated tourist cottages have been constructed.

Only 2 sparrows were seen around a cottage , but in vill area 10/12 birds could be seen , possibly because of noon hours.

However it has come to notice that locals kill and eat sparrows on sizeable scale with the misconception that their flesh has aphrodisiac properties.

This particular matter was highlighted in my ZEE TV interview held earlier.

N. KALYANI - Safdarjung Enclave B1, B4 and B5 blocks Safdarjung Enclave New Delhi Delhi

The nests would be in our home windows, ventilators etc. and we could watch the mating, nesting and feeding habits of the adults and juveniles, fledglings..
a great joy all in all.. how they brought their nest building material starting with rough, hardish twigs then softer grass then fine yarn, threads etc and finally softest feathers..to form the inner most lining of the nest..
how the male and female parents of the young ones took turns to bring in food for their offspring.. and feed into the wide open beaks of the little ones..
and the way the adults entered their nests... and waited for their turn to enter.. great courtesy and chivalry and etiquette.. if one could make such judgements..
and how the little ones flew away one day all of them abandoning their nest...
