On 31 07 2011 vill Thelka and the nearby waterbody was visited.
In the locality near the tank no sparrows were seen , but in old residential area more than 50/60 sparrows were recorded in smaller flocks perched, in flight . There should be good population as overall bird life is very good in this locality

New Raipur is being developed as Capital Complex, it comprises of many villages. extensive construction activities are going on but the old villages still exist.
In every visit several bird species are recorded.including 30/40 sparrows scattered in small flocks mostly close to residential areas, The sparrow population should be much more.
However no nest has been recorded so far

THOUGH THE AREA I LIVE IN SAFDARJUNG ENCLAVE IS TOO GREEN AND ABUNDANT IN WITH TREES PARKS FOREST LIKE HAUZ KHAS PARK DEER PARK
I VISITED THE MARKET AT AB BLOCK AND CENTRAL MARKET NEAR GREEN FIELD AS I ACROSS THE MARKET FREQUENTLY AND SEE THE SPARROWS THOUGH NOT MUCH DURING THE EARLY MORNINGS AND LATE AFTERNOON PERIODS OVER THE SHOPS NEAR HOUSES,ETC.

I visit this site 4/5 times a year for AWC and general bird watch.
On 26 06 2011 during a brief halt 6/7 sparrows were recorded around tank in cultivated area

I have lived in Tuticorin during my childhood days and then i moved to Ramanathapuram. And now i live in Chennai. I could frequently spot sparrows both in Tuticorin(now Thoothukudi) and Ramanathapuram but there is a complete absence of sparrows in Chennai. But the number of sparrows spotted is considerably low when compared to the number of sparrows spotted a decade ago. If i am asked what is my favorite bird, i would definitely say Sparrow, as i have grown along with their chirps and their sweetness. I am a proud Citizen Sparrow!
