Jahnavi G Pai - Russell Market, Shivajinagar Tasker Town, Shivaji Nagar Bangalore Karnataka

There was fire in Russell market in February 2012. Not sure if it has affected the sparrows there.

Arun M K Bharos - Nelson chowk area, Mental Hospital, sadar Nelson chowk area, sadar Nagpur Maharashtra

It is really sad that during my many visits in last 5 years and stay in Nelson chowk area I never saw any sparrow in the area of one km radius, though other birds are present eg Mynas, pigeons, doves, parakeets, koel, drongos, etc

As a whole I am very much disappointment for not seeing sparrows in Nagpur city, though they may be present.

I have recorded them in the outskirts and in country sides.

It was nice to read observations of one of the participants that he has recorded in Sitabuldi area, but unfortunately I could not

SHAILENDRA KR TEWARI - sector 21 indira nagar residential colony Lucknow Uttar Pradesh

Every year since 1998-99 6 to 8 eggs are hatched by sparrow and the chicks comes out of them and take their flight from my small house. Even yesterday (i.e. 24-04-2012) 2 chicks came out of eggs. Both the male and female sparrows are feeding them. In early days they are fed insects and soft food, later on they can be fed some grains.

Mayuresh Baji - Om shree apartments, Kottara chowky Mangalore Karnataka

They used to come to my flat at 6th and top floor og the Om shree apartments. to feast on any remnant food etc. If I remember correctly they'd tried multiple times to build a nest on top of the tubelight at home. However my roommates from Mumbai were totally against any bird nesting in the house, and freaked out even if tehy see a house lizard or a cockroach. So tehy never let the sparrows have a success.
I dont know if theya re still there, but I think they should be as it was relatively calm area with not too much of human activity.
