The absent of sparrow is the signal of first point.

I was fascinated by the chirping sound of these sparrows. They are regular visitors to my home.They were three to four in number and had a nest in my house with little ones.
But now the number has decreased to only one. The nest is gone. I still hear the chirping of these sparrows at my neighbours place ( the next door) each day. I wish i could get these sparrows large in number to my house each day.

We had a few sparrows living in the same house with us (from 1972 - 1987). I remember very vividly about them. They used to lay eggs in nests created in crevices made by our asbestos roof! We used to sleep right under them, I loved having them.
It is so sad to know their numbers are declining. Why?

Dear Friends,
I was born and bought up in the hill station town called Udhagamandalam,(ooty) in the Niligiris district of Tamilnadu in India. It was an agricultural family surrounded with cultivation land normally vegetables.There use to be no electricity till i was in xth standard. The only way to pass the time was watching sparrows in and out of my house. I used to feed them with the available grains. Nearby we there was the woodlands hotel with ancient buildings. Sparrows used to nest in these buildings in the veranda roof and in bushes behind my house. I used to wake up hearing the sound of sparrows and till date the same is my practice when visit my home. I am 36 now a i find less sparrows in this area due to raise of concrete buildings.The cultivation land we had is now an housing apartment. Very few sparrows come to feed on the grains my mom spares every day in the morning and evening in front of my house.
