Nandakumar M - Mohan Building, Chickept Cross, Chickpet Huriupete, Chickpete Bangalore Karnataka

We have a retail textile shop in this place. I have fond memories of going with my father right from my child hood. Most of the buildings here were victorian buildings and old houses and mansions built during 40's and 50's. Most of them have been converted into shops now.

There was ample space for the sparrows to build their nests in these old buildings away from the reach of humans. Most of the ceiling were more than 17 feet tall or inaccessible. There were lots of pigeons too. But strangely have few pigeons, but no sparrows.

mukesh - on new baner wakad dp link road ,vishal nagar, pimple nilakh Pimple Nilakh Pimpri Chinchwad Maharashtra

I love the chirping of birds, cookoo of koyal..since i m living on outskirt of Pune , best advantage i have is, closer to nature where i can show my kid the tree, bird, wandering cow and buffalo, dog, clear sky, moon etc. Deliberately i have chosen this part of city due to lots of plantation, near by river, open field. Many thanks to our Indian army they keep lots of open space intact, planted save them from pirate of lands. You move from here to other part of road specifically Pimple Saudagar and everything is gone, only remain is jungle of concrete. We have planted many sapling inside our boundary and they are paying off, house sparrow with many other birds love to visit our trees and sing a song to us in morning, i used to feed them, kept water source even my kid first words in morning is chiya chiya..looking from bedroom window..now he used to feed them from his portion.
I would like to congrats every person behind this initiative, a lot we can do together for our coming generation to see..otherwise everything they will see in TV

Bhumika Pathak - Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University, Sector 16 C , Dwarka, New Delhi Sector 16C Dwarka, Dwarka New Delhi Delhi

We shifted to a new campus in Dwarka, New Delhi during the final year of our college. it was an area that was still not so much exploited and commercialized and exploited for residential purposes. the surroundings included another university, law college etc and plenty of green cover which housed a variety of plant species that weren't usually seen in other parts of the city.We also saw (and many times got scared too) different strange varieties of insects such as multicolored hoppers. There sparrows were spotted frequently during the rikshaw ride from college to sector 14 metro station. We could notice them because of their sweet chirping sound. Hope with increasing human habitation in that area, their survival don't face any kind of threat.
