Sparrows would begin chirping crazily around 4:00-4:30 am, and the 100-odd birds sounded like thousands of birds.Moreover, the always built nests in the window-sills of our Railway Quarter flat. Nests were even built in the ceiling fan cap-holder.

Stopped seeing sparrows gradually after 1995 or thereabouts. Shifted from Mumbai to Delhi in end-1997 and never saw sparrows in Delhi, until a couple of years ago when I visited the Big Bazaar outlet. My personal feeling is sparrows' disappearance coincides with the rise of mobile telephony and telecom towers; these are the main culprits, although there may be other secondary reasons too. Sad!

There are some bushes left amongst the built up area of KPHB colony. The bushes are opposite the Car servicing station Named Tune Up. I visited for my car repairs on three occasions and all three times I found a large number of sparrows there.
