Traditional house in Danya village Danya Almora Uttarakhand
There is a custom in the Kumaun in the construction of traditional houses that small holes were left under the eaves for sparrows to nest in. I regularly visit the home of Chandra Pant in Danya, and her old family home is so designed. I was there at sunset on Monday 9 April, and was very pleased to see that sparrows were flying in and out of the holes under the eave of the slate roof, a sure sign that they were nesting there. I was very pleased to see that at least in her home sparrows were still very much in evidence.

i have been observing many sparrows using our post boxes as their nests,which my neighbors feel as nuisance.so it would be better if each of us can spare their empty shoe cases,which would become a perfect place for the sparrows to dwell.it would be a great use if we provide a bowl of water ,by placing them in the terrace.

For the last 3 years ,,,I M in the company of these sparrows, at my very small garden ,,I intentionaly did not beautuify my garden ,,,Bogenvalia & Kaner are mingled there ,,
This is on very busy road,,They comes down after seeing me from woods & eats very lovingly ,,They sings song .Sometime i feels they are my late father's friends ((monks )) who sings for my father who were famous Buddhist scholor his study is adjacent to that small garden . Our family has a bonding ,,We never goes out for long hoildays. I calls sometime arround 3 pm about food supplied to them or not . I m worried as negiobours complains abt shabby growth of greenery but i always tells them from religious angle ..

they are beautiful creatures, every time they chirp I feel rejuvenated... but nowadays i think there is some pain in their call,.. if only I can understand what they're saying
