We have an attached garden to our flat and many sparrows would flock during the evening in the small trees (Cesalpinia pulchermia). They were a nuisance sometimes as they tried to enter our flat. However, during the past few years, 2007 onwards a new building was constructed near our house (which is not seen in the google map) and a mobile tower was installed. There is a stark decline in the number of sparrows seen compared to what were seen before. However, now we do have many new sunbirds, fantails, bulbuls which not only visit us but also there is a lot of nesting activity.

hello. i am studying in sri ramakrishna institute of technology college. i use to see many sparrows daily. their nests are built near my computer lab. i feel happy when i see those birds flying in air and resting in their nests since i don't even find one in my living place, sulur.

Where I lived earlier ( about 30 years back in dehra dun), house sparrows actually entered rooms looking for insects. They would catch spiders and insects from under tables and chairs and fly off. In Delhi they rarely enter the house and usually come only as far as the verandah. But the sparrows seem to be very comfortable with humans. They pick up crumbs left over after the dogs have eaten.

when i was a kid i had this old habit of climbing on a tree and sit when no ones aorund to play with, that time often got full view of trees and birds around me. there used to be nests of grass and woodwool (of coolers) present on trees and wall creeks of mu house. I remeber many incidents that involves unfortunate events such as killing of sparrows by air gun. I remember it specially as kid gun was a fascinating thing of movies but in real life it was not so likeable due to what it did. Another incident that still is fresh in mind is a sparrow abandoning its hatchling because my cousin touched it. Luckily that place still have sparrow population but it surely have declined.
