The area in which we live, despite it being present in one of the busy parts of our city and is densely populated. Yet, the presence of these Sparrows are a sign of hope that with a few initiative lots of things can be done. As recently the city has been plagued with many man-animal conflicts with a number of leopards being killed. Hope these small creatures can teach people a thing or two about sustainable living.

in the month of December-11 i shifted from town to city out cuts and constructing a new house. nearly 50 house sparrows regularly visited to my house, eat paddy and drink water from morning to evening in my old house (town)
now i allot an extent of land nearly 30sft for sparrows and other birds, and planted trees.

About 15 years back I use to see atleaset 10 to 15 sparrows a day. But for the last 5 years I have seen on about less than 5 sparrows in a year.

The house had a large courtyard. There was a wash basin in the courtyard with a mirror. The sparrows would come and peck at the mirror , perhaps their image and in the process injure their beaks. The owners covered the mirror to prevent the birds from injuring their beaks.
