Dr. Sumit Dookia - Railway Traffic Collony Ratanada Jodhpur Rajasthan

Sh. Mangal Singh ji Rawat, Rtd. CTI from North Western Railway, used to live here for 30 years of his service. I also shared few years in his tenure at this locality and observed that he used to feed sparrows regularly in evening times.

Every day in the late afternoon more then 300 sparrows used to come for feeding, playing, dust bathing and also chirpping.

Every month Sh. Rawat used to spread more then 5 kg Bajra seeds for them. And he used to call it as his sparrows.

After his retirement from Railway, he shifted from that old railway house to new area on the outskirt of city. His sparrow are still visiting that site but not more then 20-40 every day.

It's my personal observatioin that when these mobile towers came into existace there was an immediate fall in the number of sparrows & it was not slow process. It was so fast that i think in months a great decrease has been seen in their number.
It was very exciting to see the
sparrows all around during the childhood & the moment in the large
groups are now totally an imagination.
