Vill Lachkera has a big nesting colony, about 2500 Asian Openbills and Little Cormorants, Cattle Egret and other species nest here, within the area of vill itself, duly protected by community.
Apart from these species, House sparrows also nest here, about 12 nests in houses were seen , No of birds seen more than 80/90.
A proposal has been submitted to Forest deptt to declare this area as a Protected area for birds.

In the township, market, FRH and adjacent localities more than 200/250 birds seen.
In FRH varendah one active nest with a fledgling seen.
