Rajender Sharma - dharuhera Dharuhera Haryana

Since I am staying in Dharuhera town Sec 4A Haryana app 70 KM from Delhi on Delhi Jaipur Highway. I can see a lot of sparrows in my Garden. These sparrows are having nests in one of Ashoka trees. I fed these sparrows regularly & water arrangement is also there in my balcony. I watch activity of these sparrows regularly & delighted to see them. Thanks a lot to BNHS for taking such a noble cause. I would request BNHS to take survey of crows on the same way as I am unable to spot them in my locality.

Rajiv K. Singh Bais - Bock-A Sector 33 Noida Uttar Pradesh

Here Sparrows are generally seen eating grains or bits of bread or other food. But when it comes to feeding their youngs they go all out to capture more nutritious big healthy insects. On 19 April 2011 one such determined female captured a large praying mantis in A block of Sector 33 Noida and repeatedly battered it on the ground till all the legs and wings broke off. She then carried it off to some nearby nest not visible from the place where I stood. I took many photographs of this activity.

Shubho - Residential Ballygunge Kolkata West Bengal

I read an article about the vanishing Sparrows from Kolkata. I have a small backyard with potted plants. Started placing bird seeds and and water every morning and now have visits from sparrows regularly. Also quite a few other birds also come like Tuntuni, Moynas, Shaliks, Wood peckers, magpie (type) ghogoo (which also built a nest in one of the plants).

Rajiv K. Singh Bais - Sindhi Colony Pachmarhi Road Pipariya Madhya Pradesh

1969 in Sindhi Colony Pipariya. Sparrows were every where. Nests seen on almost every roadside electric pole and in every gali (lane). Weekly Sunday market when villagers brought their grain produce on bullock carts for selling by the roadside attracted so many sparrows. Pipariya’s Galla Bazar (Grains Market) was a big market for the grains and pulses produced in nearby villages. Here grains were stocked in the open in huge heaps. Villagers set up their shops by the roadside on Pachmarhi Road also.
