GSN - A jogging park 40000sqft surrounded by buildings Mumbai Suburban Maharashtra

Sparrows used to sit on clothes lines and try to nest inside the house 10 years ago. Then they stopped. But always chirp from shrubs in early mornings. I have installed 2 sparrow nests on my building wall and 4 have started nesting - it took them 8 months to decide. Mynas tried to oust them once. They eat rice and sometimes other grains but never tur dal kept on the window sill. If people throw grains, pegions eat before sparrows in the pecking order. Crows keep an eye on their nests. Cats try their luck on pecking birds too.

Sunil Kumar - chirag dilli Chirag Dilli New Delhi Delhi

Dear Sir This is in response to your article published in TOI on the 3rd April.I used to live in Paryavaran Complex area on IGNOU road from June2010 to April 2011.There I watched four pairs of house sparrows chirping about on ventilators on the back side of 4-storied building. There was no tree or any sort of vegetation.

In April 2011 to chirag Dilli in South Delhi, near malviya nagar. Here there is undeveloped DDA park area along side the big open drainage both sides of which abundance of perennial trees are there.Despite that I noticed only two to three pairs of house sparrows in the bush since last 8 months. But since a couple of months only single pair of house sparrow is seen despite a good habitat and natural fauna available for them .

Thanks and Regards
Sunil Kumar

Rajiv K. Singh Bais - Hotel Highway King on NH 48 Delhi - Jaipur Highway NH 48. Jaipur Rajasthan

On 07 Jul 2009 at 08:40 AM, we stopped here for a cup of tea on our way to Jaipur. This Hotel Highway King is located on NH48. There were few thached huts outside and about 10-15 sparrows were clinging to the underside of the sloping grass roof. Birds were freely entering into roadside small shops also and shopkeepers were unmindful of their presence. Bright sun, deep blue sky and a small hill in the background added to the beauty of the place. My son took photographs.
