I have installed one food steel bowl across my bedroom window and daily fill up them with kang seeds (small one) as sparrows prefer to eat that, along with sparrows, parrots and sometimes pigeons also eat from here. I fill up same again in the afternoon. From early morning there is chirping of sparrows right from 6.15 am in our locality and this I am doing this last 5 years.

Deepak Kumar Sahu - Daspalla, Nayagarh Vani Vihar Bhubaneswar Odisha

In childhood days, I had a great acquaintance with house sparrows as some of them were nesting in my home as well as in the building where we used to live at Hirakud, Sambalpur. I used to watch them for hours and enjoy their activities and noise. Due to childishness, sometimes I used to try to catch one of them to play with, but failed all the time. I like this small and sweet bird since then. As I grew up, one day heard about the degradation in sparrow population which I didn't believe. But, soon I get to know the fact. Today we should join hands to combat the worst scenario and work for the conservation of the species.
