Till recently they were roaming around the building where I live along there off springs. Earlier at the time of mating too. They tried to build nest in my house. But it was not possible due to some reasons. Usually they roam several times around our surroundings. Other species of birds are also aplenty in our area.

Sparrows were a regular feature those days. Every day we used to spot sparrows from our balcony chirping merrily. Once or twice, sparrows even built nests at our balcony loft. But sadly, the female sparrow abandoned her eggs after a day or two and as a result, the eggs didn't hatch. Miss those days when we could get a glimpse of sparrows flying on and on in between buildings from morning till evening. I think they are found in places where there aren't too many highrises. Atleast that's what i believe. Because the area where i used to live is a colony of just four storied buildings. Sparrows are still found there. Also i find sparrows occasionally in my office premises which is located at an area not surrounded by too many highrises. Maybe my opinions are baseless. May be. But can't rule that out completely.

Muthathi village Hanuman Temple Muthathi Mandya Karnataka
I'm sharing the following experience as it MAY PROVE TO BE USEFUL
It was my visit to the village Muthathi 2 or maybe 3 yrs ago, which is in close proximity to a Jungle Resort, near the Bheemeshwari Fishing Camp. This village is approx 100Km from Bangalore City.
While offering pooja in the Hanuman Temple located in the village of Muthathi, I noticed a few sparrows flying around within the temple premises.
It immediately hit me that in many religious places wherever I've visited and sparrows were sighted, all the places had one thing in common; the was NO CELL PHONE SIGNAL(ZERO SIGNAL STRENGTH).
I immediately checked my cellphone and found that there was NO SIGNAL. The sprrows were the ones I've spotted within a temple, and I didnt really observe or look out for nests. But the place is surrounded by forests and there may be a significant number present.
In general, I have, on my visits to certain places, observed the presence of sparrows in places which are isolated from human habitation and primarily Mobile signal strength is either very low or nil.
