I am reporting about a residential complex on link road just behind Chincholi bandar bus stand. Blue Pearl, Near Hanuman Temple, link Road, malad- West Mumbai Maharashtra
I saw a report on TV last year that sparrows are dwindling. Then I realized yes these chirpy birds used to be an integral part of my childhood and now I see them almost no where. After a few days I saw some 10 sparrows feasting on chapati pieces inside my colony and was very happy to see them. Just last week one sparrow came and sat on my window grill. Mu day was made as I saw this gauraiya sitting there and chirping.
Hope I get to see many more of them!

the presence of this bird falls day by day.The birds not seen near the junction once it was seen frequently.No nests were seen near the shops.

House sparrows were common during this period.Large flocks were observed at the Peroorkada junction,market and food path.They were seen feeding grains near the provisional store,ration shops and market.The birds built nests the shops near the road side.

I often see sparrows hopping around the ground floor residences picking grains of food and other times picking out nesting material like broom fiber. Its also interesting to see many sparrows flying to the box grills lining many upper floor windows, scouting for crevices around AC units fitted on the external wall perhaps for building a nest. Its irrititating to see residents often shooing or driving them off and completely insensitive and intolerant to letting birds nest. The same plight applies to sunbirds making attempts in a similar way!
