5 to 6 years before 2010 there were many sparrows in our area, I was born in 1992 and i saw many of them in my childhood till i was 12 or 13 but then suddenly their number went decreasing. please do something about this. There are many pigeons, crows, bulbuls, Nightingales but no sparrows at all in last 3 to 4 years!!!!!!

I have a nest in my window sill and daily 2 sparrows come in the morning between 0730 to 0830, afternoons 1300- 1400 hrs.. rest I am in office. but 02-03 babies used to chirp and were off last month. Now 5 days back 2 sparrows came again to the same nest. I don't know they are the same old ones or .. new .. but I love them.. I contacted Rajani of sparrow movement in Hyd. and am designing nests out of cartons/ply etc and trying my best to get old memories back..

No Sparrows seen.
only crows and kabootar's are seen and they live in there in trees and space avilable on the building.
Crows nests are found on the trees.
Few other birds do present them selves occationaly.
Sparrow and Ash Bird(a bigger size of sparrow) are not found.

Sparrows were beautiful little birds always landing in groups and living in pairs. I even built a wodden houses for 5 pairs of Sparrows and hanged paddy bunches to attract them in the year 1997 and they did not occupy ; but one paid had a nest inside the well and few more pairs had nest in some holes in a nearby old house. Cats pray on them sometimes. I loved sparrows a lot because they were cute and in significant numbers. But now a days we have more trees in around my house and the backyards of about 8 houses make a large garden of trees and many birds are visiting now a days like cocoos, grey birds, many many type of birds all making wonderful noises in the early hours but not Sparrows. I really miss Sparrows. But when I lived in Abudhabi deserts between Aug2004 to Mar2006(Naya Sanaiya - new industrial area in Abudhabis reclaimed land) I found plenty of sparrows in swarms and there they were not affected by Mobile Phone Towers. Some natural predators of Sparrows must be the reason for their disappearance now a days.

This place which I mentioned is a orphanage and most of the place is surrounded by trees ! people come here for morning walk. I observed these sparrows over there but day by day the population is decreasing. But the place is suitable for sparrows to nesting ! Hope this information will be useful for you .
