Sushmita - New Ramdaspeth Ramdaspeth Nagpur Maharashtra

As a child growing up in Nagpur, we lived in a sprawling bungalow with a vast garden around us. Sparrows, myenas, crows, parrots were all around us...The sparrows especially decided to nest in the ceiling fans and unfortunately it would result in a lot of fatalities. The chicks would fall, the adults would get hit by the whirring fan. I remember trying to rescue the nests with the chicks inside along with my younger sisters...
Now I live in Bangalore in a high rise apartment. It is a concrete jungle out here. No sparrows at all, no crows, a few myenas, but lot of large hawks...I wonder why?

niveditha - Kalamarahalli near Hosahalli Chitradurga Karnataka

I love sparrows. I want them to be seen by next generations. I have seen them at my native. Its a village. inside the house. Near to my house there was thick thorn cactus plants. there I saw sparrow nest for the first time.In childhood I used to pick their nest and wanted to see inside the nest. My Father told me once we touch the nest means they will never return to nest. From that day I use to observe them from far. The way they enter into the nest and feeding the young ones. now a days I have not seen their nest. Hope this information will help to increase their number.

praveen chopra - self Kanpur Nagar Uttar Pradesh

The Sparrows were seen infrequently during the period prior to 2010-12. Being a water front the Ganga barage started attracting city tourist and alongwith it came a hoard of vendors selling snacks like ground nuts, namkeens, tea stalls etc. The scraps of food articles thrown saw an increase in the number of sparrows scavenging on them. At times we have seen a flock of over 200 sparrows roosting on the thick shrubs and bogunvillae planted by the Irrigation dept. Regretfully we have yet to see the nestings in the area.
