The common house sparrows have disappeared totaly from the area. The chirpy sound was a blessing for all of us. I so much miss them and will do whatever it takes from my end to get them back again.
This is a good initiative but what are you doing from your end to materialize this????
If any help is needed in my area please do let me know. I will contribute what i can.

hello everyone... today, when i went through the article of The Times of India abt. this serious issue i felt that i should tell everyone abt. what i m finding new in this area.
...i'm living in Sarika nagar, gwalior from last 14 years. when i came in this colony, it was only third building of the colony during that time. there were lot of open space around my house. as at that time, the colony was at the outskirt of the city, one could find farm land abt. ten minutes walk from my house. The peasant used to cultivate Wheat and vegetables in theirs lands. My house is parallel to BVM college boundry wall. inside the boundry wall their are a good no. of trees.
now, what used to happen when wheat crop got ready to cut in that when i used to walk for jogging i found there were lots of sparrow on their chirp n hop.Theirs presence make day & evening so beautiful that is difficult to express. at that time, their were 3 nests in my house. i was very excited when 1st time i hold a baby sparrow in my hands. usually, there were three sparrow born at my home. My mother used to give their names as per my sister,me n brother name. we fed them boil rice. it was very wonderful n unforgettable period of my life. in the evening, when i went in BVM ground with my lil brother to play cricket we were amazed to see lots of sparrow on the every trees.
Now, as there are a good no. of houses here. its getting to difficult to feel that days. But, i m very thankful to my colony members that they are in practice to put a bowl of water n grains in their balconies. still, any one can find a good no. of sparrow here in morning & evening time.yeah! now it's difficult to figure out a nest on tree. but you can still get a sparrow family in every house. Today. i have four nest of sparrow in my birds.N i m waiting for the day when the little baby sparrow comes out fom their n i will hold them again to rejoice my old childhood days.

Mahendru Enclave, (Opposite Model Town 3) Mahendru Enclave, (Opposite Model Town 3) North West Delhi Delhi
I live in Mahendru Enclave, it's opposite Model Town 3 and 1 km before Azadpur.
My house used to have a huge reserved forest kind of park behind me house.
But somewhere in 2004 Metro was allotted that place and they had to cut down all the trees, since then I have rarely seen any sparrow visiting my home.
Before the cutting of trees I did use to see them on my roof but post tree cutting the sighting has dropped. There is still a large portion of forest kind of park in the rest of the half of the area but I never saw a sparrow till now, except for a few rare occasion.
I appreciate this project and would like to contribute in it in any way.
I was thinking to install a small sparrow house kinda thing on my roof, if you could initiate something like that, may be it's a good business idea that you start selling those sparrow house online and provide instructions that how sparrows could be provided an environment to live around our locality.
Thanks
