Last year(2011) they nest in the ceiling fan-box chamber(without fan). Due to less space in side the chamber, their chick fallen down and could not survive. This year, I placed a small bamboo-basket below the chamber and hope for the best.Now they are busy in building their nest.

I had kept 5 sparrow nests in my balcony for last 2 yrs. But sparrows started coming for last 1 month only. Bofore that I've not seen any sparrows in my apartment area.Even now sparrows are not looking at the nests hanging in my balcony. This may be because pegions had made many nests in my balcony

In my opinion the extensive use of mobile phones has somehow affected the sparrows, that they have almost become extinct. Another reason may be the environmental pollution due to vehicular traffic.
