I was delighted to see them just near a croded city flyover, as it was a long long time to see sparrows, last I saw them in Mahalaxmnagar in Indore, I even took a video for my memories, it was in March 2011. Similarly I saw some sparrows near Open drain of Sagarpur area in new delhi.

I had kept 5 sparrow nests in my balcony for last 2yrs.But Sparrows started coming for last 1 month only. Nowadays they are coming to eat food everyday even though not looking at the nests. This may be because pegions have made their nests in the balcony.

I've been living in the locality since 1985.Have experienced no change in sparrow population.They are seen everyday.Many pairs nest in ducts of buildings.Almost every building has few nesting pairs.Around 50 sparrows seen everyday in the locality-they regularly visit our terrace garden.There are three roosts(all in trees) where around 500 sparrows come to roost everyday.The roosts are at least 10 years old.
The description is for the period 1985-2012.

I lived in chawl, so Sparrows were quite common even in house balconies and sheds, bur after shifting to above locality i had to search for sparrows. But fortunately I found a few when I looked for them in early mornings and during silent periods [no kids or usual rustle] in my residential complex.
Now i had a habit to try and spot sparrows when ever I look or roam around the complex.
