I saw sparrow collecting insects or sometime dry grass might be they use it for nests. Also, everyday I put some Pearl millet (Bajra) in my balcony for pigeon and occasionally sparrow also comes to eat few.

It is a Govt. quarters near RC Church Bus stand in Colaba, Mumbai INS Ashwini Hospital, Nanabhai Moos Marg, Navy Nagar, Colaba Mumbai Maharashtra
I regularly feed these sparrows in my balcony for last one year. Initially they were scared. But now everyday at around 7 AM, they start chirping as if they call me to feed. It gives me immense pleasure watching them eat the rice grains.

yes in my house lot many sparrows were living but since past few periods i am not getting or seeing any sparrow

I seem to be having a great priveledge that they have choosen my terrace as safe haven. They have been frequenting it for grains and water that i set out for them from time to time. They have been building nests as well in the ducts of our building. I have been fortunate to capture some great pictures of these birds which i would be happy to share with this forum.

I grew up with sparrows making their nests in the cupboard which had a few niches in the kitchen. Remember very vividly, taking a nest once to school with a couple of eggs cause the parents just refused to come back.Hopefully the nest should still be in St.Agnes' High School/Convent of Jesus & Mary at Byculla. It was normal to feed them and make friends,,,,those years!, somehow things have changed and for the worse.Been out of Mumbai for the last couple of years and before leaving, tried keeping some boxes out but didn't succeed because of the pigeons.If anyone wants to start a programme in Goa, please count me in, always loved Nature.
