Its unfortunate that some people like to have healthy trees chopped off only to get a better view(A flyover and a market-place..lots of vehicles ).. Evenings would be really nice when at tea-time we'd here the sparrows chirping in the trees that had covered our balcony entirely!!

I used to provide grains and they used to come daily. those were around 5 sparrows. I feel after increase in those areas, i dont find any now

I came to live in this colony in 2003 December . The number of sparrows in the begining were considerable . Each year their no is declining , May be due to Urbanisation , Pestisides in food Or lack of suitable places to make nests . WE MUST SAVE THIS LOVELY CREATURE AT ALL COSTS >

Saw sparrows right from say 1972 till maybe mid-90s after which they completely disappeared but have recently made a comeback in our house in the last year or two! However, though sparrows were sighted easily back then, now I have not seen them anywhere else except in the trees in my ancestral house, which is more than 50 years old.

If you want sparrows in your garden, put out bird feeders that are not big enough for pigeons and hang them on a branch. They like to bathe and drink water from the garden hose. Leave your plants in the garden till they get seeds so that the birds can eat them.
