I visit Sanjay Van, which is a green belt area of South Delhi. I go for a walk here every morning. Often I spot sparrows flying around from one tree to another. But the numbers I see are not too many, sadly. They would be hardly 10 to 15 birds.

I am staying in a bldg. Our neighbours have arranged , a nestbox for sparrows , which is a wonderful idea and even I am planning to arrange something like this for the sparrows. In last five years the town is coming up with many residential buildings. Many trees are cut in our areas and buildings are constructed. Many a times sparrows try to enter our rooms and build nests in some cozy area of the room . This is because i feel the lack of trees for building homes can be one of the reasons why they search apartments.

I live in the Panjim and in an apartment,which is surrounded by open spaces like play grounds and a river flowing close by.When we moved in 1981 there was much more vegetation and huge trees around & a variety of birds and a lot of house sparrows,then for the last couple of years the sparrows disappeared and we had lot of pigeons and crows coming to our balcony but for the last couple of months we have had the sparrows back and its a joy to hear them and they fly into the house very happily and they have tried to build a nest in one of the light shades inside the house

I'm hailing from Kollipara Village and had relitives in the surrounding villages aswell. During my Childhood we have lots of Sparrows in our neighbourhood. But from the past 10 Years I dont know how all Sparrows got dissappeared. We now didnt found a Single Sparrow in our village aswell as in our neighbouring villages.
