House sparrows have really become rare. There was a time when everyday I got to watch a sparrow and also hear their chirping sound. But now due to city development and huge buildings coming up , trees being cut down , the number of sparrows seen in my area and the vicinity near by have declined. In my area where I stay there are lot of crows and sparrows are seen very occasionally.

The sparrows are in abundance in my colony. I provide water and food every day and the pot of water is filled several times during the day. There are large no. of other birds also sharing the area and nesting space like myna, pegeons, crows , doves etc.

I have been living in C R park all my life. It's a good residential area with lots of green areas. People here have gardens in their respective balconies, open areas. Car traffic has increased a lot. Houses used to consist of GF only, rarely another floor added. Gradually almost all houses became 3 storied. When, I was child, I would see lots of sparrows. I would also noticed there nesting places but they somehow vanished when Houses began to expand vertically. Now, there has been a spurt of greenery all around & am seeing sparrows back in action. It feels good to see them along with other birds. I have noticed quite a few other birds too, common ones.

I live in an apartment since early 2009. The area of Sheelanagar has recently been in developments and more residential apartments have come up in the 2010-2011 period.
I have never seen any sparrows in the area. The area is still developing and resembles more like a village. There are cultivated lands nearby. Overall it is an open area with greenery around and recently more of residential developments.
Crows are very common and few other birds also visit the area like small cranes and the common mynas are very common.
But I have never seen any sparrows that should be more common. I guess they seem to have completely vanished from that area. I have not found much or any rather sparrows even in the city areas.
