i love birds and sparrows were like immediate neighbors to me. they used to hang around our house all the time. these tiny brown birds used to happily chirp and talk to each other without any fear. some of them had even built nests just outside the window, with quite a few of them sharing the front lawn with us! they used to be beautiful company and it is heartbreaking to say they are now just a 'used to be'. i would love nothing but to help in anyway to bring these cute little birds back.

I have seen that sparrows reside here with fearless approach.They are even found perched on the windowsills, corridors and verandah throughout the day especially when the students are not around and there is less activity around 4.p.m. onwards.Lots of birds come to dring water during summers.You can sit with your eyes closed and just hear them chirp....it is an amazing experience....!!!!!

I have observed chirping of sparrows in the early morning, very recently, upon a small tree. The number appears to be quite good.

We had to put card boards or thin nets in windows and other open areas near the fans. Every day some or the other sparrow used to get cut by the means of electric fans. So we finally decided not to operate that particular area of fan. There were almost more than 30 to 40 sparrows found in one house. Like that there were many many sparrows with their active nests almost in all seasons in all of our near by houses. The small babies hatched out of the eggs were beautiful without any fur or wings and were redish in colour. There used to be continous chirping noise in my house. I used to see two types of sparrows one black and the other one in cream as if the former was male and the later was female. I even noticed when one went out to bring some food for the birds the other used to be just around the nests. They were part of my happy life. We had small trays outside all our houses to put little bajra for these sparrows. We used to keep a small bowl of water also.

I didn't see many. My friends and I would spot a couple here and there sometimes in the past three years i've studied here for. but even in that period of time, i didn't really see a nest. i just saw them fly here and there, maybe looking for a place to build a nest. I was really worried about the amount of sparrows I used to see when i was a little kid. And now, they are almost extinct! It's very sad. And talking about more lately, I haven't seen a single sparrow in this new year till April (now).
