My day starts with the listening of chirping of little sparrows in my kitchen balcony .They say Good morning everyday and it makes me and my children very active.We feed some food like cooked rice,raw rice ,water in a tumbler .

The location I explained above is an apartment, where I live. I am living in this locality since 2009. At the time when I occupied the flat, there are no sparrows. But after six months I saw the sparrow which is searching place for build the nest. I let the pair of sparrows to build a nest in one of my windows and since last 3 years they are with me. I used to watch them every day. I keep some grains and water for them in a safe place. They developed their population. I think, now they are at least 20-30 in the surrounding of my apartment. some inhabitants are trying to wipe them off but I am not supporting them. I am planning to arrange some hide outs on the out side wall of my flat to let the sparrows build more nests.
Even before, when I was a tenant, I hardly locate the sparrows in the residential localities. In my childhood days, I liked and used to watch sparrows which build nests in the corners of our house. With that interest, I used to search sparrows wherever I move. But in the present location, my thirst for sparrows is fulfilled. I used to explain my neighbours regarding the sparrows.

As I am avid lover of birds, and i do feed house sparrows daily. This habit started seeing my father feeding a big group of house sparrows (about 50 - 100) at a time in morning and evenings hours, this was long back say till 1977 when my daddy expired;

I am living in East of kailash since 1980. Since then we are regularly feeding the birds and never interfare in their nest building. Sparrows are regularly making their nest in our house whether it is in the electricity box or gaps near the wall. For the last few months I observed that there were total 18 sparrows in the flock( Two male and the rest females)Last month I saw female sparrows fighting over the single male to mate as well as to capture one of the electricity box to make nest. One female succeeded and the pair rared two chicks. Few days back I ordered two nest boxes and feeder from "Nature Forever Society"Nashik and fixed them on the wall above the electricity box. Before this just a few days back few female sparrows were just waiting for the chicks to abandon the electricity box where there nest was. They were just fighting for the nest. Conclusion: shortage of Nesting place.

I was surprised to see sparrows the first time as otherwise our apartment complex is innundated with the rock pigeon habitats which are also quite bold and aggressive.
The sparrows are nesting away from where the pigeons are but do fly out often .
