I still remember those golden days, when I was going to my high school. We will have atleast 2 nests built in our house ( near ventilator openings & Electicity meter board)during every breeding season. There were a few pairs which even take our presence for granged and come into our living room and get into their nests. Occasionally they also indulge in mass sunbaths in our courtyard. I have not spent even a single day without hearing their chirping.
There was one time when a nest was build in our bedroom's attire, but the only problem was the sparrows had to come to this room thru the main entrance crossing our living room, as the bird entrance for bedroom was sealed. we had 2 sparrow chicks in the hatching chirping the whole day. It so happened that we had to leave outstation early morning (3:00 AM )and we locked our house and went.When we returned around 8:00 PM the parents were chirping and swarming around us. My Mom took some rice and kept it in the hall, both the male and the female quickly took the grains to the nest and fed the chicks. From that day, we made sure that no ventilators are sealed in our house.

very countable sparrows i have seen since last 2.5 yrs I've been living here.
Though in my hometown Bokaro i seen numerous sparrows all round the year.

I like chirping of sparrows. In our local language (Gujarati) we say ... chi .. chi .. chi .. chi. This noise feels the entire area with joy.

I lived near lord arunachaleswara temple and in that town consists of a big mountain which is also famous for girivalam,Eventhough i can't see even a single sparrow during these days,i wonder where its all gone.i thought that pollution and microwave towers is a major cause for such things.because,during full moon day the whole town got polluted in all the ways,it also affects greeny mountain too.
please make awareness to the devotees to save both nature and sparrow
