A large open area with a fair percentage of scrubs adjoins my apartment building an I see sparrows everyday. I see them feeding on, I think spiders in cobwebs of the building.

The apartment building is about 500 m away from a main road so there isn't much noise of automobiles.

in our house we had a hanging plant pots, in them sparrows used to nest, one sad thing is the chicks from nest usually fell down and they were dead, most of the time we picked them and returned them back to there nests.

During my childhood, I have observed that sparrows prefer huts, thached houses as their shelter. They never prefer to live in a concrete jungle.

Sparrows to me symbolise happiness and thrift. They seem to be happy with so little! They work hard and their chirping is a mood-lifter! I remember, not so long ago, when they would happily have mud baths right outside our building in fairly large numbers.
Of late, though we see them around, their numbers have definitely dwindled. No longer do we see them flitting in and out of mud, preening and cleaning themselves.
The pigeons and the crows have come to dominate in our area that is fast becoming a concrete jungle.
