Thiru vi ka park / shenoynagar bus stop Gajalakshmi Colony, Kilpauk Chennai Tamil Nadu
Shenoy nagar is composed of residential area, a big park(thiru-vi-ka park ) and market. More sparrows were observed on the period mentioned. Many times sparrows build nest in the windows of our home, even some sparrows were so friendly it stayed for long time and we were feeding them also. Really its a very beautiful bird which we should save it from extinction.
Due to new house constructions and after 2009 we clearly observed decreased in no of sparrows we observe daily in our parks and home. currently due to more growth and metro rail projects environment is totally changed and more trees were cutted off. Now we cant see even a single bird in the area

The house live in has too many trees in front of the home as well as the back of home, so sometimes when i stand in the balcony i see sparrows and myna, the frequency of seeing them has come down as compare to earlier time but still manage to see them when i am at home.

I am observing it from past 6-7 weeks at the most. Its a single bird, which comes in balcony of my flat on the fourth floor almost every morning. It stays there for a couple of hours may be before the day starts to get very hot. I am not sure what it is up to. I am thinking of keeping some water in a cup for this bird but am not sure if I should do it.

I have seen them at airports(Chennai, Bangalore New) as well. Grew up in a small town and used to frequently visit my village, so grew up with sparrows being around. Have been living in the city for past 14 years and never realized when they disappeared. Even today morning I saw a lone one on a water tank. There's a corporation school in front of our apartment, I think these sparrows may have nest somewhere in the compound. I think is a great initiative. It would be great if we could bring these little ones back to our surroundings. All the best to all of us.
