I used to visit my grandparents and everyday can see these birds.
We used to play tricks and try to catch them in my childhood days.
But later after 4-5 years when i visited I never saw even one sparrow, My Grandmother told me that they not seen nowadays.

In our locality, we have three apartments having about 90 flats (30 in each block) where in we have substantially active sparrow activities along with pigeons. The sparrows seem to being nest as the numbers seems to be reasonably good. As an individual & family, we have made a practice to feed these sparrows everyday with “Bajra” in the morning & about 10~15. The sparrows eagerly wait & look forward in morning for the feed. It is very good to hear the chirping sound of these small & lovely birds.

I had been to the cremation ground recently and have seen a fair number of them there. I do not understand why? Last year I used to get sparrows in mu garden also but this year non have appeared so far. May be because I have cut a few bamboo trees in the garden.

Four years back I could see sparrows occasionally in college mess feeding on the leftovers now I rarely see them. Their numbers are reducing at an alarming pace. Rarely can you see a sparrow nest in fact I have never seen one in my life. I would love to know how can I contribute to their well being.
