Gary Meyers - Podanur Podanur Coimbatore Tamil Nadu

Many years back (about 15 years) house sparrows were pretty common and in fact we also had a few nests around our house. Now that a lot of buildings have sprung up after breaking down the older buildings, the sparrows have just vanished.I believe its this increase in number of buildings coupled with the huge increase in population (not to mention the huge amount of pollution) in this area as well has contributed to the missing sparrows. One more contributor could be the burning of waste in a dump yard close to where I live.
However I am pleased to report that I have noticed that the house sparrow is present at about 12- 13 kms from where I live at the Coimbatore Omni bus stand, where there are cardboard nest boxes (about 10 nests) placed on the roof of the bus shelters.
Please let me know how I can bring back the house sparrow back to where I live.
