Mangroves behind renaissance federation club 4 bungalows, Andheri Mumbai Suburban Maharashtra
My building is on the edge of a mangrove patch. I received an email from BNHS yesterday about this citizen sparrow initiative. I was just reading about it again in the Hindustan Times this morning when i heard the familiar chirping of sparrows. I pulled out my camera, took a recording shot of a sparrow sitting on my neighbours window grill 2 floors below. This area is sadly dominated by pigeons. They seem to drive out all other birds.

Actually, on early days, there were many in the house to feed them in the afternoon during the afternoon. Now that all members go out for school/college/work and there are seldom any people in the house like early days having leisure time for these things, number of sparrows have thinned down. More so, the electronic equipments, mobile towers, high noise pollution and severe change in environment is also the causes. It is mega city menace.

I occasionaly noticed dat one fine day on when we clean the rice in the top floor of the house. We spread lots of rice grains there, and the next day morning, there was noting, then only we thought the sparrows fully eaten. From that day itself, my daughter feed the grains.. She will not get up morning when i called her, she ll get up only the sparrow chirping for the hungry. She loves the birds. Thanks and regards, Renukaraj

in our veranda we use to put bajra for sparrows but in last 2 yrs pegion and squirels were seen more ofen then sparrows so we stopped feeding them because squirrels used to bite clothes,wires , cusion covers and pigeon makes a lot of mess' near our home there is a big park and alot of trees

when i was kid we use to watch food grains which is keeping to dry infront of house and whenever sparrows comes we use to make them fly and those days were very beautiful and now we cant show sparrows to our children and i feel after some years we can show sparrows to our children in books only.i feel when mobile towers came from that day sparrows are missing. i hope and request to every body to save sparrow.
