i used to feed them evry day on my terrace... but as time goes on and no. of sparrows disappeared and today can't see any sparrow around.. no sparrow chirping observed now but back the evenings were full of there sweet chirpings.

i live in that place and few years before i used to see lots of sparrows but nw a days i hardly see any or hear any chirping, that sucks...without them morning is so borrring

This is the area around the Department Building and eve while I am writing I can hear sparrows outside my office. I have put up nest boxes and they are using them. If you take a walk inside the sanctuary you can see them feeding on the ground, bushes and neighbouring trees. They are usually seen resting on the dense thorny bushes. When you go near them they will go into the bush only if you go very close they will go away from the bush.

I see sparrows every day. since last one year thet have reappeared. There is an open plot right behind my house . Along with sparrows there are coupleof other birds that are spotted there regularly....king fisher...cuckoo...etc ...

When I first came to live in the area in 2000, there few houses and many sparrows. However, in the past 12 years, the sparrow population has dropped, even as the number of houses has gone up. We now even have apartment blocks in the area.
I started putting up simple nesting boxes in 2004, made with dahi matkas in my verandah and with this encouragement, the sparrows began returning to the area. I now have 5 such nesting boxes, each of which have each had multiple broods each season in the last 8 years.
