There is a pair of sparrows nesting outside the wall of my house presently. so I frequently see the pair. But I have not seen any other sparrows recently in this locality.

I fondly remember how some sparrows used to share rice from my father's thali as he sat on the floor and quietly ate his lunch. My father was a man of few words. He hardly spoke. I must have been only 7-8 years approximately.These sparrow were not at all scared of his presence or others surrounding him like my mother in the kitchen or myself around.I fondly remember this and cherish the memories of the sparrows. On the terrace also there were plenty of sparrows. Where have these sparrows disappeared unlike the pegons, crows and scores of other birds?

Very Few birds. The reason appears to be lack of high trees enough to give shelters to them. The trees are pruned regularily destroyning their places. Secondly the place is near the airport which is again not afavorable place for birds due to noise and environmental pollution.

Earlier, the locality where I live in was full of sparrows. Between the time period 2005 - 2009, there was a dramatic decline in the number of sparrows. They seemed to have become vanished almost overnight, maybe, because of the increase in the number of mobile towers. However, the good news is that, they are once again returning to our locality, though the number is not that huge it used to be earlier. But still, these are some very positive signs and slowly but surely, they are returning back to their homeground which is always welcome....
