Seeing sparrows feeding on the bajra in my balcony, their quarrels, banter, flying in and flying out gives me enormous happiness. I used to observe sparrows in my Lodi Colony house kitchen garden for almost 26 years and was apprehensive of missing them when I moved to Rail Vihar, Sector 56, Gurgaon. But sparrows thought I am a worthy friend and frequent it day in and day out and in fact, they make such a ruckus whenever bajra is not there and there are times when wife is forced to wake up from afternoon sleep to replenish the stock. Thankful to God that he has given me this opportunity to do something for nature.

Every day a pair of sparrows visit my kitchen window to eat the rice I feed them every day. They prefer to eat rice grains than boiled rice. Even if I forget, they call me and remind me to feed them. I love them so much. So lively and cheerful my morings have become because of them.

Here when we are talking about sparrow extinction, my area is quite lucky that we locals get to spot sparrows every morning. My morning still starts with their chirps, when my parents feed them with seeds early in the morning.
In winters, when the fans of our house are switched off, and there is not much of a noise in the house, we have sparrows inside our drawing room and bedroom..
Their favourite place to nest is the unused bathroom in our house and in the last one year, we have had 3 nests in which the sparrows had laid eggs and we even saw the really tiny newborn sparrows.
