During summer season,we observed that sparrows found it difficult to get water and for that they had to wander from pillar to post...Observing that, my father started putting water in pot outside our house and because of that we were able to see a number of sparrows around our house.

My house used to be the nests of dozen sparrows. Day long chirping and feeding babies were very common sight. I often get irritated by their scattered twigs. And feel pity for those younglings who often died due to falling from nests accidently. It was very very difficult to put them back in their nests if they survived after falling.

I would say there is a clear decline in the sparrow population since 2003. Now we find many new houses. I did not find any sparrows at the grocery shop which i used to observe in early 2K.
