Few year back sparrows stop coming during breakfast time and even we can not spot them during day time. But after 6-7 year in February 2012 when I was in my village I saw 7-8 sparrow in our home and my mother give them small pieces of wheat aata like earlier days. And we were very happy to see them again. But we could not find where these birds were coming from. Earlier 8-10 sparrows used to live in our house itself.

The house sparrows seen in this area used to bathe in the dust in the early mornings, they use to chirp on the window sills and electric cables especially in the early afternoon, they started disappearing in the early 2002 and now a days they are seen only in numbers of 2 to 4. A pair of sparrows tried to build a nest on a drainage pipe in my residence which was not feasible, to help them build one I planted an artificial cardboard box which worked out from the past 2 years the box holds a nest every year.

i have been living in theis locality for more than 2 years, but have started seeing sparrows only since last 2 months or so. the usual birds we see are pigeons and crows and some unknown species which are seen during the monsoon months.

This is my native, this is a village near kolar gold fields and since there are housing with old style (the tile roof houses) i am seeing sparrows and there nest's when ever i visit this place and even clicked few of them in my camera, i love those clicks. and an advice to all, we are in summer there are more scarcity of water every where, so please do keep some water in an small vessel on your veranda or in garden so birds can drink.

I have been living in Delhi for the past 17 years. There were times when I used see groups consisting more than 10-15 sparrows in my balcony regularly during the nineties. They used to nest in nooks and corners, including inside the coolers. I have started noticing their declaim somewhere in the yearly 2000. Further it kept reducing. Today I hardly see them, evenif I do it may be a maximum of one or two. Last year one pair made their nest above my of air-conditioner outdoor unit. We provided them with water. The pair did succed in raring one female chick. This year I waited for them to come back but sadly not been lucky so far. I am missing their chirpings.
