We were fascinated by their chirping early morning. Their voice let our small child woke up early in the morning and he also enjoyed seeing them bathing in rain during rainy season. Now i donot find these wonderful creatures anywhere. Last month i visited kalka , a place near Chandigarh where i saw a few of these after several years.

A pair of sparrows has been roosting with us for nearly 4 months now.
In the balcony of our 9th Fl apartment, we have a money-plant creeper running along the roof of the balcony. We have also hung a bird nest of coconut (procured from Sri Lanka) from the roof.
At the start of the winter season, this pair of sparrows started bringing some nesting material inside the coconut hollow and the female started occupying the nest at night. Later however both shifted to the creepers. As the winter was severe this time, the creepers offered good protection from the cold breeze blowing down the Yeoor hills. They would arrive by dusk time and leave after sunrise. They used to arrive independently, mostly with the female coming in first but occasionally the male also used to arrive first. Whoever came in first would occupy a fixed place , with the latter taking position about 2 feet away.
In the first week of March, they stopped coming and we were really missing them. But in the last week, they returned much to our delight. They are currently roosting. All of us have got so accustomed to their coming that nobody at home can go to bed without first checking up that the birds were tucked away for the night.

On our way from Shani Singanapur to Shirdi, there is a Renuka devi temple. I was amazed to see lots of sparrows in the temple premises.

i likes and fond of all type of birds, also i have pet birds like goldean inch, zebra finch, love bird,etc, i am also fond of house sparrow and likes very much chirp sound of sparrow. in these days sparrows are disappearing , because population of human beings, bad polution, excessive sound pollution, strong reason of lack of greenaries, trees have cutting in large amount every day.
Government should be stop cut trees in each and every places. the main cause of disappearance of exotic birds and sparrows lack of green trees.
